A note from co-captain Matt on upcoming training rides:
Hope you have been able to enjoy the beautiful weather and heat this year. Who has been getting out on their bikes? Sorry I didn’t get a training ride out to the team over the holiday weekend, but spent the Fouth on a soul crushing 77.7 miler in Bend, OR:

I promise not to put you through this kind of torture, but if you are up for it let me know!
This Sunday, join us for a ride on the Banks-Vernonia Trail:

This beautiful trail is open to only pedestrian traffic and is a linear 21 miles one-way. If you are comfortable with the whole 42, that’s what we’ll do. If you want to do less you can chose your own adventure and still be assured of a comfortable yet picturesque ride.
Departure time: 9am at the Banks Trailhead Parking Lot:
Let me know if you need any more details!
On July 19th, Western Bikeworks is hosting a training ride with 30 and 70 mile options that are supported rides. Starting point is the Tigard location:
TIGARD: (open now!)
7295 SW Dartmouth St.
Tigard, OR 97223

For the weekend before the big event, on Saturday July 25th, at 9am I’ll be leading a final training ride in Portland. This route will start in Lake Oswego at George Rogers Park, wrap around the Lake before following Terwilliger to Council Crest. After soaking in the one of the best views in the city, we’ll drop downtown and cross Hawthorne bridge following the Springwater to the Sellwood bridge. After crossing, we’ll enjoy a moderate climb through the cemetary before meetin up with Terwilliger again for the decent into Lake Oswego and return to George Rogers Park.
Here’s a rough sketch of the route: https://goo.gl/maps/f865t
There will be a lot of climbing in this 30 mile route so be prepared with lots of water and supplements. Stickmen Brewery is nearby to refual after the journey… It’ll be a great warmup before the big weekend!
Only a few weeks left and hope everyone is excited. Look forward to spending time with everyone.
All the best,
Matt
P.S. Stay tuned for some stretching exercises that are cyling specific. These are immensely beneficial for warmup, during breaks, and post-workout. I use them personally and swear by them… Brought to you by me friends at ADAPT Training. Enjoy!
